Brief

Launch is a simple app I designed and prototyped to help people get into the water as quickly as possible. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we are surrounded by lakes and rivers but it can be a little complicated to find easy access to these waters. I wanted an app that would pull up a map of your immediate area and mark the points that you can launch your kayak, canoe or other small boat.

I would say that a good 95% of the time you go kayaking you will exit the same place you entered, otherwise someone else would need to move your car. If you do want to take a trip, the filter at the top of map can show you curated routes between multiple points. More filters can help you search by name or by the difficulty of the body of water. Tapping on a marker or route will take you to an explanation page where you can read more information about the body of water. A bookmark feature lets you save launch points you’d like to try or return to, and a nav arrow will load the coordinates into your GPS map of choice.
